About the Rally in the Ravine

Generations of North York residents proudly call North York General “my hospital.” From birth to end-of-life and everything in between, NYGH has cared for our entire community for the last 50 years, and we need your help to support it for the next 50!

We invite our community to Rally in the Ravine - a run or walk event in support of North York General Hospital.

Rally in the Ravine is the first run or walk for North York General. A community event with something for all ages and fitness levels, Rally in the Ravine is chance for patients (past and present), and supporters throughout North York to come out and join us as we fundraise and celebrate a hospital that means so much!

Participation Options:

Anyone can participate in the Rally in the Ravine and EVERYONE can fundraise!

Our goal is to raise $100,000 in pledges for North York General.

Participant Information

Age Limits, Registration and Fees

The 5K Run/Walk is a race the whole family can enjoy! Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a guardian. All participants under the age of 18 on event day must have a guardian sign their waiver.

Pricing is as follows:
5K Run/Walk ($10) Youth 12 and under/Seniors 65+
5K Run/Walk ($25) Adult
Kids’ Fun Run ($10) Youth 12 and under
Garden Walk ($10) Seniors 65+
Garden Walk ($25) Adult

In-line skates, roller-skates, skateboards, bicycles and dogs are not permitted on the course. There is a 1h 30 mins time limit for the event.

About the Garden Walk
The Garden Walk is a comfortably paced walk around the NYGH grounds. The evolution of NYGH’s Orthowalk, an event that raised funds for orthopaedic care at NYGH for nine years, the Garden Walk will support areas of care across our hospital including orthopaedics.

Corrals
Corrals will be set up to group runners based on the time they expect to complete their distance it is your best estimate. Corralling participants is an important way for us to keep runners safe and ensure a positive experience for everyone. Runners will need to select a corral during the registration process.

5K Expected Finish Time Options:

Choose the option that you believe is the closest to your anticipated finish time.

*Note: Strollers and/or wagons are allowed for children that are not yet big enough to run/walk in the event. Participants with strollers/wagons are asked to follow marshal instructions for moving over to accommodate runners and/or signal passing on left if running with a running stroller. Children in strollers/wagons for the duration of the run/walk will not be charged an additional registration fee.

Bibs and Race Kit
The 5K run/walk is a chip-timed race. Participants will be given a timing device. The race bib will act as your entry card to access the event. The Garden Walk and Kids Fun Run will not be timed but you will receive a bib in your race kit.

Chips will be activated upon crossing the start line. Race bibs should be pinned, unmodified and fully visible on the front of your shirt throughout the entire race. Participants will receive their race bib with pins at race kit pick up and will not be able to participate without them.

We ask that participants write their full name, emergency contact information and any allergies or health conditions on the back of their race bib as this will assist emergency personnel should it be required.
